Meet Our Eye Doctors
Dr. Shannon Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Shannon Smith is the founder and Medical Director of Cataract, Glaucoma & Retina Consultants of East Texas and the Medical Arts Surgery Center in Nacogdoches. A board-certified ophthalmologist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, she specializes in advanced cataract and glaucoma surgery. Dr. Smith earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed fellowships in ophthalmic pathology at Baylor College of Medicine and glaucoma in Dallas. Since 1993, she has served East Texas with excellence, contributing to national glaucoma research, publishing in her field, and lecturing internationally.
Dr. Mitchell Haley, O.D. – OGS
Dr. Mitchell Haley is a Nacogdoches native and optometrist at Cataract, Glaucoma & Retina Consultants of East Texas. He provides comprehensive eye exams, glaucoma management, dry eye treatment, and prescriptions for glasses and contacts. Dr. Haley earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. A lifelong community advocate and Eagle Scout, he has volunteered on international eye care mission trips and enjoys golf, basketball, hiking, fishing, and pickleball in his free time.
